Feeding your SKIN begins from within...

The relationship between nutrition and skin health is undeniable. According to Dr. Jason Rivers, a Dermatologist in Vancouver, and many other healthcare professionals, certain foods play a significant role in maintaining our skin’s health.

As the largest organ of the human body, the skin has many important functions. It protects us, helps regulate our body temperature, maintains the balance of certain fluids (hydration and electrolyte balance), contributes to the synthesis of vitamin D, and plays a crucial role in certain senses (touch, pain, etc.). This means that the lack or excessive consumption of certain foods can be harmful not only to the skin but also to all other organs in our body.

We know that a balanced diet rich in essential nutrients can help maintain overall health. Unfortunately, it's not possible to definitively determine which foods can guarantee us youthful and radiant skin.

Despite the publication of numerous research findings on nutrition in journals or on social media, several challenges make these results unreliable for various reasons.

As mentioned by Dr. Freedhoff (Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa), it's difficult to gather accurate data on what people actually eat in a study. Either patients don't remember exactly what they eat or prefer not to reveal their food intake due to guilt.

Like many subjects, opinions vary greatly on what can contribute favorably to skin health.

While awaiting rigorous studies, with many subjects, reproducible and free from the influence of a particular industry, it can be suggested to limit alcohol and caffeine intake, drink more water, and ABOVE ALL, never forget to apply sunscreen several times a day!
